Hello! Kendra here! This is a little segment that I’ll be doing on certain Mondays that I like to call “Mobage Monday!” The majority of you are probably asking yourselves, “what the hey-doodle is a mobage?!” Well, dear friends, that’s exactly what this introductory post will answer!

Mobage is the romanization of the Japanese word モバゲー and for those who are familiar with Japanese basics you’ll be able to tell that this is written in one of the three Japanese alphabets: katakana! This is because it is derived from two foreign words. English, in fact! Can you guess what those two words are?

Well, if you guess “mobile game” then you would be correct!

CT_82ysUcAAqRlgJapanese mobile game players have an astounding amount of mobile games to choose from, whether it be iOS, Android, or other! On Mobage Mondays we will be mostly covering mobile games that have not been localized and released in English. For you Android users this really isn’t a problem, you can usually either access the Japanese apps in the play store or use qoapp to download them. For iOS users it’s a little bit trickier, as you have to make a Japanese iTunes account, but no worries! I will be covering a small tutorial on how to create one in the future.

I’m very excited to show you my impressions of many mobage that I have come to play and love. Aaaaand maybe a few horrible ones here and there for kicks and giggles! I will also be including some translations of the games to help you get started with each one!

Until next time!
