On July 15 Netflix will be premiering a Netflix Original starring Wynona Rider called Stranger Things. The trailer release for this show is intriguing and Geek Out will be doing an episode by episode review.

The trailer straight away gives a nod to 80s fan favourites like ET and the Goonies so that alone will pique many people’s interest. It starts off with a group of boys playing a tabletop game in the basement. Game over, the boys head home on their bikes and by the next morning one of them has disappeared. The story seemingly takes a dark turn and momentarily you are left wondering if this is going to be a thriller television series but that gets left behind very quickly after the discovery of a shaved head little girl in the same location that the boy disappeared. ET girl!!
What happens next in the trailer is a quick succession of clips showing what looks like a secret lab, a number 11 tattoo branded on the girl indicating multiple “test subjects,” some insane dream like sequences and a moment where ET-like lost girl glares angrily at a trucking chasing the boys on a bike and flipping it over and away from them so they escape.
